Help and limits, Fort McMurray

Checked October 11, 2026Filed by the Shift Log desk

Free, confidential gambling help runs 24/7 in Alberta, and Rivers Casino & Entertainment Centre has a GameSense Information Centre on site. The budget panel below helps set a limit before a visit.

Where to reach help

  • 211 Alberta is free, confidential and open 24/7. Call 211, text INFO to 211, or use its online chat, including for referrals to gambling support.
  • The Addiction Helpline of Recovery Alberta, 1-866-332-2322, is free, confidential and answers 24/7. The line covers problem gambling.
  • Rivers Casino has a GameSense Information Centre on site, and its staff can assist guests who need help. GameSense is AGLC's responsible gambling program in Alberta, online at gamesenseab.ca.

Self-exclusion

AGLC's Self-Exclusion Program is enrolled online only, at selfexclusion.ca. Each person chooses what the exclusion covers: Alberta casinos and racing entertainment centres, regulated online gaming, or both. Terms are six months, one year, two years or three years. The exclusion starts immediately once enrolment is done.

No term can be cancelled early, even if a person changes their mind partway through. Self-excluded people are not eligible for Winner's Edge, the province-wide AGLC loyalty program that runs at Rivers Casino. A Winner's Edge card is picked up at Guest Services with government ID, and enrolment in self-exclusion rules that out.

Setting limits

The budget panel on this site does one thing: it divides a spending limit and a time limit that the reader sets. It never counts winnings or predicts results. Everything runs inside the reader's browser and sends nothing anywhere.

Winner's Edge members can also use the GameSense My Activity and Budgeting Tools, with spend and time limits and alerts. The tools work at the Winner's Edge kiosk in any Alberta casino or in the member's online account. As general advice, fix the stop time before arriving, not once inside. Writing it down makes it easier to keep.

Limit for the visit

$

$30 per hour is the pace that keeps to the limit.

Stop at 9 PM. Breaks: every hour.

Slots that day close at 4 AM.

The panel only divides your own limit. It does not count or predict winnings. Money spent is the cost of the visit, not something to win back.

Questions logged

Who answers the phone at 3 AM?

Two lines answer 24/7. 211 Alberta takes calls to 211, texts with INFO to 211 and also offers an online chat. The Addiction Helpline of Recovery Alberta is 1-866-332-2322, free and confidential, and covers problem gambling.

Can self-exclusion be cancelled early?

No, it cannot be cancelled early. Enrolment at selfexclusion.ca starts the exclusion immediately, and it holds for the full term chosen: six months, one, two or three years.
